Staff Initiatives

Mission

At the CMLTA it is our mission to build diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into all facets of our work and believe that this practice is essential in achieving our mandate of public protection. We celebrate diversity in all its forms and value the visible and invisible unique qualities and perspectives of the public we serve, the members we regulate, and the staff we count on to complete our regulatory work.

Our Vision

We acknowledge that this commitment to DEI is ongoing and requires continuous improvement and evaluation. We envision the CMLTA as a place where:

  1. Everyone feels safe in being their authentic self and bringing their unique perspectives to the table.
  2. Diversity is encouraged, celebrated, and integral to the success and operation of the organization.
  3. Barriers are identified and eliminated at all levels to ensure equal opportunities for staff, regulated members, and the public accessing our services.
  4. We educate our regulated members, staff, council, and volunteers on issues that foster inclusion, intersectionality, equity, cultural competence, understanding, and appreciation to best serve the public we protect using medical laboratory services.
  5. Regulatory decisions, information, and processes are equitable, accessible to all, and free from bias.

Contact CMLTA

The College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA) is the regulatory body for Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) employed in Alberta.

Treaty 6

We wish to acknowledge that the land on which the CMLTA office is located is Treaty 6 territory and a traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous people. This is home to the Cree, Blackfoot, and Metis, as it is for the Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, Chipewyan, and other Indigenous people. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage for our life as a community.
