MLTs who are retiring and no longer require registration, must notify the CMLTA by submitting a Notice of Non-Practice through their member profile on their Home Page under "Change My Registration". Please set the effective date of your retirement as the day AFTER your last day of work (or the end of the year).
If you do not see the "Change My Registration" section on your home page, it's because you already started a renewal so you must go into the renewal and withdraw it. Once that is done, the "Change My Registration" section should reappear.
It is recommended to keep your CCP documents from the last 5 years in case you are called for an audit. Even if you cancelled your registration, you could be randomly selected for a CCP audit.
If you retire and then decide to return to work as an MLT, you must have at least 900 MLT hours in the previous 4 years or complete refresher education. Additional information regarding the reinstatement process is on our website.
The College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA) is the regulatory body for Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) employed in Alberta.
We wish to acknowledge that the land on which the CMLTA office is located is Treaty 6 territory and a traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous people. This is home to the Cree, Blackfoot, and Metis, as it is for the Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, Chipewyan, and other Indigenous people. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage for our life as a community.
